Vitex Pharmaceuticals Pty Ltd has officially inaugurated Wonderland, its new A$250 million pharmaceutical manufacturing facility at Eastern Creek in Western Sydney, representing the country's largest investment in pharmaceutical manufacturing in more than two decades.
The facility was officially opened in the presence of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Chris Minns, underscoring the strategic importance of strengthening Australia's sovereign pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities.
Established in Western Sydney in 1989, Vitex Pharmaceuticals has evolved into Australia's largest contract pharmaceutical manufacturer. The new Wonderland facility significantly expands the company's manufacturing capacity, tripling its production footprint while adding capabilities across a broader portfolio of dosage formats, including gummies, liquid formulations, creams and probiotics.
The investment also broadens Vitex's regulatory capabilities by extending its manufacturing licence to registered medicines, including Schedule 4 prescription medicines, enabling the company to support a wider range of pharmaceutical development and commercial manufacturing programmes.
Designed to meet some of the world's most stringent pharmaceutical manufacturing standards, Wonderland is expected to become one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities in the Southern Hemisphere once fully operational. The facility will enhance Australia's onshore manufacturing capacity, strengthen supply chain resilience and support growing domestic and international demand for Australian-made pharmaceutical products.
The opening of Wonderland reflects Australia's continued focus on expanding advanced manufacturing infrastructure and reinforces Western Sydney's position as an emerging hub for pharmaceutical innovation and production.
