Toronto has some of Canada's most qualified plastic surgeons. Many trained at Yale, NYU, University of Toronto, and top programs across the U.S. and Australia. But credentials alone don't tell you everything. You need to know which clinics actually build their entire approach around natural outcomes, not just advertise them.
This guide profiles five Toronto practices that demonstrate this commitment through their surgeon training, patient galleries, and stated treatment philosophy. All five practices are led by FRCSC-certified surgeons who offer free consultations to discuss your goals.
This research was conducted in March 2026. We reviewed clinic websites, Royal College certification records, fellowship details, academic roles, and verified patient feedback across RealSelf, RateMDs, and Google.
Here's what we looked for:
These five practices reflect the selection criteria above.
McRae Plastic Surgery, https://mcraeplasticsurgery.com/, operates on a surgeon-led continuity model. The same dual-certified surgeon who performs your procedure stays with you from the first consultation all the way through recovery. Both Dr. Mark McRae and Dr. Matthew McRae trained at Yale and NYU, and they hold the uncommon distinction of dual board certification in both Canada and the United States. Their practice philosophy centers on preserving each patient's individual character instead of following standardized protocols or volume-driven surgical plans.
Best For: Patients who want surgeon-led accountability throughout their entire care experience, backed by dual Canadian and American board certification.
Standout Feature: A two-surgeon model where both FRCSC and ABPS certified brothers can collaborate on complex cases, with the operating surgeon directly involved at every stage and no delegation to junior staff.
The Plastic Surgery Clinic is one of Canada's most research-active private practices. Founded by Dr. Frank Lista, who holds dual board certification and has authored over 30 peer-reviewed papers, the clinic brings unusually high academic density to private practice. All three lead surgeons (Lista, Ahmad, Austin) hold University of Toronto faculty positions and publish active research. Dr. Ahmad is only the second Canadian in over 50 years to be appointed to the ASAPS Board of Directors.
Best For: Patients seeking academically rigorous, research-backed surgical care delivered by a multi-surgeon team with University of Toronto faculty appointments.
Standout Feature: One of Canada's most research-productive private plastic surgery practices, led by surgeons who are simultaneously active University of Toronto faculty, publishing peer-reviewed papers, and performing high-volume clinical work.
Dr. Leila Kasrai is one of Toronto's few female plastic surgeons. Her practice centers on natural, proportional outcomes rather than dramatic changes. After completing her FRCSC in 1999 and training at the University of Toronto, she served as Chief of Plastic Surgery at St. Joseph's Health Centre. She maintains an active University of Toronto teaching role. She is Canada's most experienced otoplasty surgeon with over 2,000 procedures performed and the only Toronto plastic surgeon offering an optional all-female surgical team for patients who prefer it.
Best For: Female patients who want a female board-certified surgeon committed to natural proportional results, with the option of an all-female surgical team for sensitive procedures.
Standout Feature: Canada's most experienced otoplasty surgeon with over 2,000 procedures, trained under the inventor of the Nagata method (the global gold standard for ear reconstruction), and the only Toronto practice offering an all-female surgical team option.
Dr. Ashlin Alexander is a Manhattan-trained facial cosmetic surgeon who completed dual fellowship training at NYU in New York and the Sydney Head and Neck Cancer Institute in Australia before establishing his Toronto practice. His practice focuses exclusively on the face through a four-pillar model: rhinoplasty, facelift, non-surgical rejuvenation, and hair restoration. This reflects a deliberate choice to concentrate skills rather than diversify across body procedures. His stated philosophy of "refinement over transformation, enhancement over exaggeration" directly addresses patient concerns about looking unnatural or overdone.
Best For: Patients seeking a face-only specialist with dual international fellowship training and an explicitly articulated philosophy of natural, balanced results.
Standout Feature: Dual fellowship training at NYU (Manhattan) and the Sydney Head and Neck Cancer Institute, one of the most comprehensive international facial surgery training profiles held by any active Toronto-based surgeon.
Dr. Philip Solomon has practiced facial plastic cosmetic surgery in Toronto for over two decades. He has built a reputation internationally for naturally authentic results in rhinoplasty and deep plane facelift surgery, attracting patients from across Canada and abroad. He holds triple-level credentialing: Canadian FRCSC, US ABFPRS, and a teaching position at the University of Toronto. He is one of only a handful of Canadian surgeons offering the technically advanced deep plane facelift technique. His practice is dedicated exclusively to facial procedures and draws patients specifically seeking the "look younger, but still yourself" outcome.
Best For: Patients seeking an internationally recognized facial specialist known for deep plane facelift and multi-ethnic rhinoplasty, who attracts patients from across Canada and internationally.
Standout Feature: Triple-level credentialing (FRCSC, ABFPRS, and University of Toronto faculty) combined with rare deep plane facelift skills, one of only a few Canadian surgeons practicing this technique.
Ask surgeons directly how they define "natural results" for your specific procedure. Request before-and-after photos of patients with similar anatomy to yours. Clinics that talk about natural results but can't show consistent examples in their gallery raise a red flag. You deserve proof, not just promises.
Surgeons who focus exclusively on specific procedures like rhinoplasty or facelift tend to produce more refined, consistent outcomes in those areas. Specialists develop deeper technical skill through repetition. Surgeons who offer the full spectrum of face and body procedures may lack the same depth in any single area.
Ask whether your surgeon completed a fellowship after their FRCSC residency. This additional training, especially at internationally recognized institutions, is one of the clearest indicators of deep specialization and higher technical precision. Not all board-certified surgeons pursue fellowship training, so those who do stand out.
A commitment to natural results starts in the consultation room. Surgeons who listen carefully, discuss realistic limitations, and help you understand what surgery cannot achieve are more likely to deliver outcomes aligned with your goals. If a surgeon promises perfection or glosses over risks, walk away.
Always confirm where your surgery will be performed. The facility must be inspected and accredited by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (OHPIP) or equivalent. The consultation office and the surgical suite are frequently in different locations. Ask directly and verify accreditation before booking.
Start by checking your surgeon's before-and-after gallery for patients with features similar to yours. One flattering representative case isn't enough. You need to see consistent results across different patients.
During your consultation, ask what the surgeon would NOT do for your case and why. Surgeons willing to say no to requests they consider disproportionate are more likely to produce the natural outcomes you want. That restraint is a sign of integrity.
Book at least two consultations before deciding. The difference in how surgeons discuss goals, risks, and limitations will tell you more than any photograph. Trust your instincts about who listens, who communicates clearly, and who makes you feel confident about the process.
